Completing his education at Gaziantep Anatolian High School, he earned admission to Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Following his graduation, Prpf. Dr. Yavuz Kuurt embarked on a dual journey—initiating his professional career while marrying his dear classmate, Nilay, who has been an unwavering pillar of support throughout his life.
His journey was rich with diverse experiences, from serving as a military doctor after excelling in the Turkish Air Force to dedicating a quarter-century to GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital, where he fine-tuned his surgical skills. His specialization in breast and endocrine surgery, mentored by esteemed luminaries, marked the pinnacle of his tenure, incorporating innovative techniques that garnered international recognition.
His trajectory through the ranks was marked by significant achievements, evolving from a General Surgery Specialist to roles as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Surgical Oncology Specialist, and eventually achieving the prestigious title of General Surgery Professor—all within the same hospital and clinic. His deliberate choice to focus on breast and endocrine surgery, pioneering revolutionary methodologies in breast cancer treatment and laparoscopic procedures, earned him acclaim in leading medical journals worldwide.
Transitioning to Sultan Abdulhamid Han Training and Research Hospital, he embraced the responsibility of Training and Administrative Officer of the General Surgery Clinic, signaling a new chapter dedicated to imparting wisdom and nurturing future generations of surgeons.
