Assoc. Prof. Yalçın Yontar, MD, completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara between 1990-2002 and earned his master's degree at Eskişehir Osmangazi University School of Medicine from 2002-2008. In 2008, he qualified for residency training at Erciyes University School of Medicine, specializing in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and Burn Center, where he completed his residency program in 2014 with a thesis on correcting concavity of rabbit auricular cartilage. His study was published in "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery," a prestigious plastic surgery journal.
After his residency, Dr. Yontar served as a plastic surgery and burn center consultant at Balıklıgöl State Hospital and Şanlıurfa Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital from 2014 to 2015, focusing on war surgery. His innovative surgical techniques were published in renowned journals such as "Burns," "Journal of Burn Care & Research," and "Journal of Investigative Surgery." He also contributed to reviews on burn trauma and necrotizing soft tissue infections.
Dr. Yontar has been an invited author in several publications and served as the Central Anatolian Representative of the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery from 2019 to 2021. He received the title of "Associate Professor" in 2020 and became an ISAPS member in 2023. Dr. Yontar currently works at his private clinic alongside his wife, dermatologist Efşan Gürbüz Yontar, MD, since 2021.
