MD. Selda Korkmaz Yakar

M.D. Professor Selda Korkmaz Yakar is a distinguished neurologist with extensive expertise in electro neurophysiology. She graduated from Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2000 and initially worked as a general practitioner. From 2003 to 2005, she served as an assistant doctor in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Kocaeli University. Driven by a passion for neurology, she completed her specialization at Kayseri Erciyes University. In 2010, she fulfilled her compulsory service at Şanlıurfa Viranşehir State Hospital.

In 2011, Dr. Yakar joined Gothenburg University Sahlgrenska Hospital's Sleep and Epilepsy Unit in Sweden, participating in a multicenter study. She returned to Turkey in 2012 as an assistant professor at Acıbadem University, focusing on clinical electro neurophysiological tests and treatments. From 2014 to 2016, she was a research fellow at the NIH/NINDS, where she worked on Deep Brain Stimulation and Botulinum Toxin applications for movement disorders.

Dr. Yakar became an Associate Professor of Neurology in 2017 at Aydın University Medical Park Florya Hospital. She later worked at Şişli Kolan Hospital before joining Aydın University as an instructor in Neurology and Associate Professor in electro neurophysiology.

Her areas of interest include Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Sleep (Polysomnography), and Evoked Potentials (VEP, SEP). She is skilled in diagnosing and treating insomnia, excessive sleepiness, nerve entrapments, and muscle diseases using electromyoneurography.
