Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selam Yekta Şendül was born in Siirt in 1978. Married with three children, Dr. Şendül has established a distinguished career in ophthalmology and periocular aesthetics.
In 1997, Dr. Şendül entered Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty (Çapa) as the top-scoring student from Siirt in the Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). After six years of rigorous medical training, she graduated in 2003. In 2005, she passed the Examination for Specialty in Medicine (TUS) and began her surgical residency at Haseki Training and Research Hospital, where she worked for three months. She then re-took the TUS and secured a position as an ophthalmology resident at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital.
After five years of residency, Dr. Şendül earned her specialist title in Eye Diseases in 2010. Her dedication and expertise led to her promotion to associate professor in 2020. From 2010 to 2020, she actively served at Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital. Between August 2020 and October 2021, she worked at Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital. In November 2021, she opened her own clinic at Lotus Nişantaşı, providing top-tier ophthalmic and periocular aesthetic care.
Since the fall semester of 2021, Dr. Şendül has been a faculty member at Biruni University Medical Faculty, where she lectures in the Department of Eye Diseases. Her specialties include Periocular Cosmetic Surgery, Oculoplastic Surgery, and Orbital Diseases and Surgery.
Dr. Şendül is an active participant in the medical community, having attended numerous national and international conferences. She has also authored over one hundred presentations and articles, contributing significantly to the field of ophthalmology.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selam Yekta Şendül continues to combine clinical excellence with a passion for education, making substantial contributions to both patient care and medical research.
