Born in 1977 in Isparta to teacher parents, Assoc. Dr. Ozan Şen was inspired to pursue medicine after a personal experience with a 2nd degree burn at age 9. Witnessing the dedication of healthcare professionals, he decided to become a doctor. He graduated from Isparta Anatolian High School in 1995 and began his medical education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. Driven by a passion for surgery, he completed his general surgery specialization at Ankara University in 2008.
Dr. Şen's career began with a three-year compulsory service at Van Regional Training and Research Hospital, followed by military service as a Medical Second Lieutenant. He then worked with Prof. Dr. Savaş Koçak, a leading expert in breast and thyroid surgery, before joining Muğla-Milas Private Izan Hospital to be closer to his family.
Fascinated by laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Şen further specialized in bariatric surgery under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Türkçapar and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yerdel at Istanbul Bariatrics Obesity Clinic. Over five years, he gained extensive experience in bariatric surgery, advanced laparoscopic techniques, and reflux surgery.
In 2015, Dr. Şen trained with Dr. Mitchell Roslin at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital. He also received robotic surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic with Prof. Türkçapar and worked with Dr. Thomas Ragula. In 2018, he trained with renowned Belgian obesity surgeon Bruno Dellamans.
Dr. Şen now works at Türkçapar Bariatrics clinic, contributing to numerous national and international congresses and publishing scientific articles. He also teaches at Nişantaşı University Faculty of Medicine and is an active member of IFSO and ASMBS. Fluent in English, Dr. Şen's passions include free diving and spearfishing. He is married and continues to make significant contributions to bariatric surgery.
