About Us

Dr. Erol Havuz was born in 1970. After completing his primary and secondary education in Van, he enrolled at Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mining in 1986. A year later, he entered the Faculty of Medicine at Atatürk University.

Preparing for the university entrance exam, he was admitted to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and graduated with honors. He ranked 24th in Turkey in the Medical Specialization Exam (TUS) after completing his medical degree. In 1994, he began his residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at 19 Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. He passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) with a high score during his residency.

After completing his residency, he served his compulsory service at Fatsa State Hospital from 1999 to 2002. In 2003, he observed at Texas Houston in the United States.

In 2003, he started working as an ophthalmologist at Samsun Mehmet Aydın State Hospital. In 2004, after receiving vitreoretinal surgery training at Gazi University Eye Clinic for 5 months, he established the vitreoretinal surgery unit at Samsun Mehmet Aydın State Hospital, where this surgery was performed for the first time in a state hospital. He worked at Private Eksen Eye Center from 2009 to 2014, and at Samsun Medicana Hospital from 2014 to 2018.

Since August 2018, he has been working as a faculty member at the Health Sciences University Faculty of Medicine. He has received training in smart lenses, vitreoretinal surgery, and yellow spot disease, primarily at The Institute of Ocular Microsurgery (IMO) in Barcelona, as well as in Germany, Vienna, Florence, and Lisbon.
