Prof. Dr. Ayşe Öner is a distinguished expert in ophthalmology and medical and surgical retina, born in Adana in 1973. Graduating with honors, she began her medical journey at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 1990, where she excelled and graduated as the 7th student of her term in 1996. Subsequently, she undertook specialization training at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, focusing on electrophysiology, during which she established the electrophysiology laboratory and conducted groundbreaking research for her thesis.
In 2002, she successfully completed her specialty training and thesis on "Pattern electroretinography of the ganglion cell layer and macular functions in myopes." Following her specialization, she continued to enrich her expertise as a lecturer at Erciyes University, concentrating on medical retina, vitreoretinal surgery, and ocular electrophysiology.
To expand her knowledge and proficiency in retinal diseases, Prof. Dr. Öner spent time at Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) Retina Unit in 2003 and later, in 2006, as an observer at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, under the guidance of Anita Leys. Her dedication to advancing her knowledge ensures that patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced care for their retinal conditions.
