Dr. Koray Çoşkunfırat

Born in Ankara in 1967, Professor Dr. Koray Coşkunfırat embarked on his academic journey after graduating from TED Ankara College in 1985. In the same year, he enrolled at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and completed six years of medical education. Subsequently, he commenced his training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at SSK Ankara Training and Research Hospital.

During his tenure as an assistant, Dr. Coşkunfırat achieved the distinction of winning the first prize in the clinical branch at the assistant paper competition during the national congress held in Antalya in 1997. Upon completing his specialization training in 1998, he joined the faculty of Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine.

In 2001, Dr. Koray Coşkunfırat advanced to the rank of assistant professor. In 2002, he seized the opportunity to further his expertise in microsurgery by undertaking a stint at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, renowned globally for its microsurgery expertise, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Fu-Chan Wei. During his 1.5-year tenure there, he actively participated in numerous studies and research projects. Notably, his work earned him the prestigious Best Paper Award at the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery congress in 2004, reflecting his dedication to advancing the field.

Upon returning to Turkey, Dr. Koray Coşkunfırat resumed his academic pursuits at Akdeniz University and earned the title of Associate Professor in 2005. To this day, he continues his academic and clinical work at the same institution. In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Coşkunfırat has published more than 50 research works in esteemed international journals, authored 3 book chapters, and translated 1 book chapter. Furthermore, his commitment to academic excellence is reflected in his membership on the editorial boards of the international journals Microsurgery and Annals of Plastic Surgery.
