The roots of our esteemed institution trace back to around 1190, with the establishment of a "Seekenhuss" dedicated to the revered knight George. In 1823, a new hospital building was inaugurated, gracing the clinic with its picturesque location on the banks of the Alster. This historic foundation renders it the oldest and most esteemed municipal hospital in Hamburg. Notably, our establishment also housed Hamburg's inaugural nursing training center in 1909. The rapid evolution of medical science led to the creation of numerous pioneering medical departments, some of which now stand as the oldest of their kind in German-speaking regions.
