Dr. med. Iliana Strouthou's journey in medicine began in Larnaca, Cyprus, where she nurtured a passion for healing. This drive led her to Leipzig, Germany, where she studied at the Medical School of the University of Leipzig, honing her skills in Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery.
Her training spanned prestigious institutions like the University Hospital of Leipzig and the Clinic of Aesthetic Surgery and Breast Center at Schwerin. Here, she immersed herself in modern techniques of aesthetic, reconstructive, and microsurgery under the guidance of esteemed scientists.
Dr. med. Strouthou's academic pursuits culminated in a Doctorate, earned through groundbreaking research on the role of bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7) in appetite regulation and adipogenesis, conducted in collaboration with the obesity center of the University of Leipzig.
Her professional journey includes extensive experience in postbariatric surgery, skin cancer removal, and specialization in facial and breast aesthetic surgeries. She developed a profound interest in breast reconstruction after cancer, mastering both implant-based and microsurgical autologous tissue procedures.
In her quest for excellence, Dr. med. Strouthou pursued studies in Nutritional Medicine at the BTB Institute in Germany. She holds a DAS certificate from the German Society of Senology and maintains active membership in prestigious medical societies such as DGPRÄG, DGCH, ISAPS, and DAS.
In 2020, after 16 years in Germany, Dr. med. Strouthou returned to Cyprus, where she established herself as a leading plastic surgeon. Her expertise was recognized in 2021 when she was appointed Head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus in Limassol. She continues to serve patients at her clinic in Larnaca and the European Institute of Plastic Surgery in Nicosia, embodying her commitment to delivering exceptional care and results.
