There is truly no subject more sensitive than a woman’s face, and its imperfections; especially when the Doctor you are looking at has the face of a Vermeer painting (The Girl With a Pearl Earring) However, Dr Bair, who through no fault of her own, studied me during our initial consult with such thoughtfulness that I almost wondered if she was happy with me just the way I was; which was in fact what makes her brilliant, as I came back months later begging her to fix a plastic surgeon’s incomplete attempt to “make me beautiful”, (her words, not mine!). Dr Bair not only made the corrections to my face that had hitherto been invalidated, but wasn’t satisfied well beyond my highest expectations. By the time I left I had to ask if she painted, her ability to see, imagine and inject was so expert, I wondered if this natural beauty was so utterly unaffected because her gift is in seeing you, not being (as some agents of youthful beauty are) an airbrushed version of enviable stunning.
