Born in Samsun on November 9th, 1949, he completed his primary education at Tekkeköy Primary School from 1955 to 1960 and his secondary education in Giresun, Trabzon, and Samsun from 1960 to 1966. After obtaining his medical degree from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine between 1966 and 1973, he received the title of Associate Professor in 1983 and became a Professor Doctor in 1995. He has performed over 30,000 operations in total.
In 1996, he established Turkey's first eye hospital, World Eye Hospital. In 1998, he was appointed as the Chief Physician and Eye Clinic Supervisor at Beyoglu Eye Training and Research Hospital by the Ministry of Health. After retiring from this hospital, he started working in his private clinic in Istanbul and performs surgeries at Liv Hospital, Acıbadem Maslak Hospital, and Private Gaziosmanpasa Hospital.
