Prof. Dr. Murat Alkan is a distinguished expert in pediatric surgery and pediatric urology, renowned for his expertise in the endoscopic treatment of vesicoureteral reflux, a common condition in pediatric urology. Dr. Alkan's journey in medicine began in Mersin, where he was born. He graduated from İçel Anatolian High School in 1990 before embarking on his medical career.
In 1993, Dr. Alkan pursued a general surgery internship at the Gdansk Academia Hospital in Poland, solidifying the foundation of his surgical knowledge. He continued his academic pursuits and obtained his medical degree from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1996.
Between 1996 and 1998, Dr. Alkan honed his skills as a general practitioner in private institutions in Mersin. However, his passion for pediatric surgery led him to further specialize in this field. In 1998, he commenced his specialization in Pediatric Surgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, earning his specialty certificate in Pediatric Surgery in 2004.
Dr. Alkan's commitment to excellence and continuous learning is evident in his extensive training and certifications. He furthered his expertise with a fellowship in pediatric urology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pediatric Urology, and received laparoscopy training in France-Strasburg in 2008-2009.
In 2010, Dr. Alkan obtained the prestigious European Academy of Pediatric Urology Fellowship (FEAPU) certificate, showcasing his dedication to advancing pediatric urology. He continued to excel in his field, receiving his associate professorship title and pediatric urology subspecialty certificate at Çukurova University in 2011, followed by the title of professor in 2017.
