In my perspective, Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery are interconnected aspects of Plastic Surgery. While Reconstructive Plastic Surgery addresses deformities from congenital malformations, traumas, or neoplasms, Aesthetic Plastic Surgery focuses on enhancing appearance due to congenital, pregnancy, weight loss, or age-related issues. Despite their unique goals, both branches share common surgical techniques and principles of wound healing, grafting, and flap preparation.
In my career, I firmly believe that a successful Aesthetic Surgeon should have a solid foundation and extensive experience in Reconstructive Surgery. My training and expertise were acquired at the esteemed Niguarda Hospital's Division of Plastic Surgery and Burns Center, where I served as a primary assistant until 2001. Though I chose to exclusively focus on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery since 2006, the knowledge gained from my twenty years of reconstructive work remains an invaluable asset, continually shaping my approach to procedures like mammoplasties, facelifts, and liposuctions.
